Cappadocia University grew out of Cappadocia Vocational School, founded by the Alev Alatlı Foundation and launched in the 2005-2006 academic year as Turkey's first foundation-run vocational school; it became a university on 1 July 2017 under Law No. 7033. Civil aviation programmes — pilotage, aircraft technology and airline management — were added in 2009, an Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen campus followed in 2011, and health programmes arrived between 2012 and 2016. Teaching is mainly in Turkish, while some undergraduate degrees in Political Science and International Relations, English Language and Literature, and Translation and Interpreting are delivered in English.

Overview
Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar leads the university, with Funda F. Aktan as board chair, and the founding foundation is the Alev Alatlı Foundation. The academic structure includes faculties of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Applied Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Architecture, Design and Fine Arts.
Campus and facilities
At Mustafapaşa, teaching takes place inside restored historic Greek stone mansions, and the village is a Best Tourism Village. The campus network also includes the ATO flight school, CAMO and F-maintenance units, a balloon slot centre for nine flight zones and Sabiha Gökçen maintenance workshops.

Latest developments
In September 2026 the Governor of Nevşehir paid a return visit. The EurSafe Congress was held in Turkey for the first time, and Turkic world arts representatives visited campus. Cooperation was established with the Vietnam Academy of Journalism and Communication, and the Biosphere Sustainability Certificate was renewed.
