Development University is a foundation university in Istanbul offering associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral education in engineering, architecture, health sciences, dentistry, sports sciences, fine arts, aviation, business, communication and applied sciences. Teaching pairs theoretical knowledge with laboratory work, research projects, applied training and international exchange programmes. The academic structure includes seven faculties, one school, two vocational schools and a graduate institute, and its programmes have been assessed by international quality bodies such as AQAS, AHPGS and ABET. The premises in Avcılar consist of closely grouped blocks and teaching buildings.

About the university
Overview
More than 160 laboratories cover engineering, health, dentistry, aviation, gastronomy, communication and sports sciences, among them aircraft systems and avionics laboratories and the Pilot Melike Kuvvet Hangar. Official figures report over 12,000 international students, more than 450 Erasmus+ agreements and more than 130 collaborations with universities abroad.
Campus and facilities
The rectorate and central teaching buildings stand on Şehit Jandarma Komando Er Hakan Öner Street in Cihangir, Avcılar, while the Petrol Ofisi Street buildings nearby house several faculties. The vocational school, the graduate institute and the School of Foreign Languages operate at separate addresses in the same area.

Latest developments
Four programme groups in aviation management, logistics management and aircraft maintenance and repair received full AQAS accreditation in Turkish and English on 6 July 2026. A software engineering project on image-processing based threat detection for autonomous aerial systems was accepted for poster presentation at the SAYZEK-ATP 2025–2026 final.
