Istanbul Commerce University was founded in 2001 by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce's Education and Social Services Foundation. What began with 73 students now brings together close to 10,000 students and more than 300 academics. Close ties with the business world let the university combine theoretical teaching with sector experience, entrepreneurship and career-focused work. It offers a broad range of associate, bachelor's and graduate programmes across business, law, communication, humanities and social sciences, engineering, and architecture and design.

About the university
Overview
The institutional structure comprises six faculties, a vocational school, an English preparatory department, two institutes and fifteen application and research centres. According to official records nine departments teach fully in English, with three more using English-supported instruction. International mobility is supported through Erasmus+ and the Orhun Exchange Programme.
Campus and facilities
Sâdâbâd Campus in Sütlüce houses the rectorate along with the faculties of business, humanities and social sciences, law, and communication. Engineering, architecture and design, and the vocational school operate from the Hezarfen Campus in Küçükyalı. The historic Ahî Çelebi Campus in Eminönü, reopened in 2025, serves the university's institute activities.
Rankings
In URAP's Türkiye report for 2025-2026, dated 19 October 2025, the university ranks 108th overall. Among universities without a medical faculty it places 33rd.
Latest developments
In July 2026 the university earned five-year full institutional accreditation from YÖKAK. The following month rector Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek met students and academics visiting under the Orhun Exchange Programme, while academic cooperation talks took place in Azerbaijan.
