Maltepe University is a foundation university founded on 9 July 1997 by the Istanbul Marmara Education Foundation (İMEV). Teaching is mainly in Turkish, supported by an English preparatory year and compulsory English courses. With 14 academic units and 127 programmes it offers a broad spectrum of study, and a teaching hospital attached to the Faculty of Medicine stands on campus. The main site, known as the Marmara Education Village, opened in 2003.

About the university
Overview
uniRank puts student numbers in the 10,000-14,999 band. The library holds 200,000 printed books and over 300,000 e-books. Units include faculties of Medicine, Law, Fine Arts, Engineering and Natural Sciences, Education, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, Architecture and Design, and Communication, plus a Conservatory and a School of Nursing.
Campus and facilities
Main campus is the 100-hectare Marmara Education Village, with faculty buildings, sports facilities and an Olympic-size swimming pool. The seaside Dragos Campus covers 15,000 m² and hosts the Vocational School and the institutes. The Faculty of Medicine campus stands on the university's original site, together with its hospital facilities.
