Okan University is a foundation university in Istanbul offering associate, bachelor's and graduate degrees across medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, law, education, health and social sciences as well as art, design and architecture. Its academic model is built around the idea of bringing students close to working life: applied courses, laboratory work, long-term workplace training and partnerships with industry complement classroom teaching. The institution comprises 11 faculties, two vocational schools, a conservatory and a graduate institute. Medical and health programmes draw on the university hospital, dental hospitals and simulation centres, and teaching is delivered in Turkish, English or both depending on the programme.

Overview
Study and internship exchanges under Erasmus+, staff mobility and semester study at partner universities are run through the International Office. The university holds five-year full institutional accreditation from the Higher Education Quality Council; electrical-electronic and civil engineering programmes carry MÜDEK accreditation and several health programmes are accredited by MEDEK.
Campus and facilities
The Tuzla campus houses the rectorate and administrative units, faculties, libraries, student dormitories, a sports complex, a congress centre, the university hospital and the dental hospital, and sits about 10 kilometres from Sabiha Gökçen Airport. On the European side, the Mecidiyeköy campus is devoted to graduate and continuing education.

Four bachelor's programmes in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences received MÜDEK accreditation in the 2025–2026 evaluation period. The university also entered the top three foundation universities in Türkiye in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, placing first among foundation universities in four Sustainable Development Goals.
