Ibn Khaldun University

Ibn Khaldun University is a foundation university founded in Istanbul in 2015 by TÜRGEV, the Turkish Youth and Education Service Foundation, and it welcomed its first students in the 2017-2018 academic year. It positions itself as a research university focused on the social sciences. Its most distinctive feature is its multilingual structure: Turkish, English and Arabic serve as the main languages of instruction, with German, Spanish, Russian, French, Chinese and Malay offered as electives. A striking 53% of its students are at graduate level, the highest share among Turkish universities.

About the university
Overview
As of June 2025 the university enrolled 1,786 students: 1,212 Turkish and 574 international from 74 countries, an international share of 32%. Accreditation includes YÖKAK and FIBAA. It covers six faculties, a graduate institute, the Alliance of Civilizations Institute and a language school, plus 15 research centres.
Campus and facilities
Başakşehir Campus has been in use since October 2020, with classical-modern architecture and extensive green grounds. Its Sports Centre offers a fitness centre, swimming pool, archery range and tennis court. A solar power plant produces more than it consumes, and a Zero Waste Certificate was obtained in 2026.
Latest developments
The first promotional meeting was held for the IPPA 2027 World Congress on Positive Psychology, which will take place in Istanbul with the university's support. Administrative staff met at the 2026 Consultation and Evaluation Camp. The PeerMed4Youth project received support from the Turkish National Agency under Erasmus+ KA220-YOU.
