Light University is a foundation university offering associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral education in engineering, social sciences, business, economics, psychology, international relations, art, design, architecture, communication and vocational fields. Its academic approach rests on interdisciplinary study, a shared core curriculum, language training, applied project work and research laboratories, delivered across the Şile and Maslak campuses. The university counts more than 7,000 students, over 20,000 graduates and more than 200 academic staff.

Overview
Laboratories serve engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, nanostructures, archaeometry, economics, psychology, art and design, while 48 student clubs and two art galleries shape campus life. Erasmus+ mobility runs with more than 100 partner universities across 22 European countries, and further study options exist in the United States, Mexico and South Korea.
Campus and facilities
The Şile campus spans 490,000 square metres as the main academic and residential site, with dormitory capacity for 1,455 students, research laboratories, sports facilities and green space. The Maslak campus offers 14,275 square metres of indoor space housing the vocational school, graduate activities, continuing education and exhibition areas.
Rankings
In the URAP 2025-2026 ranking the university stands 165th in Türkiye. Among universities without a medical faculty it places 63rd, with an overall URAP score of 361.33.
Latest developments
Engineering students reached the final of the Robotaksi passenger autonomous vehicle category at TEKNOFEST in July 2026. The same month the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture hosted a cultural heritage conference with the international research organisation AMPS at the Maslak campus.
